What is on my mind.

“A naked blonde walks into a bar with a poodle under one arm, and a two-foot salami under the other. She sets the poodle on the bar, and the bartender says, ‘I suppose you won’t be needing a drink.’ Naked blonde says…”

Nero Fiddles as Rome Burns

Everybody knows the expression. However, it hurts when Nero turns out to be alive; it hurts even worse when Nero is “the most powerful man in the world”. What can we do? Well, the government gets a lot of latitude from the courts so that every decision does not turn into a matter for litigation. What sorts of input can the public have? We have political power. That means telling our congressmen that the President’s handling of the relief effort is a high crime or misdemeanor. I learned in torts that the average man does not have a duty to come to the rescue of another, but if he does come to his rescue, he must do so while exercising due care. It seems to me that the executive branch has decided to come to the rescue of the refugees from Katrina, and their negligence is resulting in new deaths every day. It wouldn’t have been this bad, except for the decision that we don’t need so many guard troops here at home. We sent them off to die in a far away desert for a fight nobody believes in anymore. We took all of the army corps of engineers’ resources, and sent them to the desert. They said we didn’t need them here. What effect did this have? Well, two years ago, the Big Easy’s levies were supposed to be repaired, but the job was done in a negligent manner because the army just didn’t have sufficient resources. There isn’t much we can do; the government is largely immune. However, what can we do? What is the best solution after this tragedy? Impeach Bush.

KU is too reasonable.

I think that Københavns universitet is trying to make my school look bad. Every time I email them, they email me back. Their answers are quick, detailed, on point, and finally, are the answers I was hoping for. This just won’t do. You see, I go to Golden Gate University. That’s right, the school too low on the US News and World Report list to be ranked. Don’t get me wrong. I love GGU, for all of its little pondedness. I feel privileged to go to the school, the same way I feel privileged to drive my girlfriend’s Honda Civic. See, I don’t have a car, and so when I need one, it’s nice to know that I can drive hers. Anyways, quit it KU, or I just may never return to GGU, and neither GGU nor KU wants that.

Wondering about housing in Copenhagen

Is there a craigslist-type site for Kbh? I know craigslist has a Kbh site, but no one uses it. I’m thinking of spending around 5-700 US for a place. Ideally I’d like to live near København Universitet, as I abhor commutes. Since the commute will most-likely be amidst fine Danish precipitation, I’d prefer biking/walking for as short a time as possible. Can find a shared sublet or something in K, or am I forced to the outskirts? Maybe the outskirts aren’t bad…I just dunno. I lived in Esbjerg for a year back in 94-95, so being in the center of town wasn’t the same problem. Any advice anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. Tak!
