1. If you’re coming from a fourth tier school, be prepared to hear “no” a lot.
Corollary to point 1: If you’re coming from Harvard, you’re still going to hear “no”. I just
can’t tell you how often.
2. It’s more fun to pick classes that you won’t be taking for two semesters than study for finals that will be here in two weeks.
3. Your financial aid office is the one to talk to about financial aid abroad, despite anything they tell you to the contrary.
4. Be courteous to everyone you meet in the administration. It’s likely that by the time you get back, you’ll need some help from just about every one of
them.
5. If you’re coming from a fourth tier school, any foreign school you pick has the potential of being a stepthem.
